SSC (Tech) Men and Women:
- Candidates must have passed the requisite Engineering Degree course or be in the final year of the Engineering Degree course.
- Candidates studying in the final year of the Engineering degree course should be able to produce the Engineering Degree within 12 weeks from the date of commencement of training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA).

- Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (Non-Technical) or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in any stream.
Age Limit:
- SSC (Tech) Men and Women: 20 to 27 years (Candidates born between 02 Apr 1998 and 01 Apr 2005, both days inclusive).

Selection Process
The selection process for Indian Army SSC (Tech) consists of following stages:
Stage I – Shortlisting of Applications:
- Applications will be shortlisted based on the candidates’ marks in the Engineering Degree course.
Stage II – SSB Interview:
- Shortlisted candidates will be called for the SSB interview, which includes two stages:
- Stage I: Screening Test including Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT).
- Stage II: Psychological Test, Group Testing Officers (GTO) tasks, and Personal Interview.
- Those who fail in stage I will be returned on the same day. Duration of SSB interview is five days.
Stage III – Medical Examination:

Training and Commission
- Training Duration: 49 weeks at Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.
- All candidates who successfully complete Pre-Commission training at Officers Training Academy will be awarded ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Defence Management and Strategic Studies’.
- Grant of Commission: Successful candidates will be granted Short Service Commission in the rank of Lieutenant.
- Promotion Criteria:
- Lieutenant: On completion of training.
- Captain: On completion of 2 years of commissioned service.
- Major: On completion of 6 years of commissioned service.
- Lt. Colonel: On completion of 13 years of commissioned service.
- Colonel: On selection basis subject to fulfillment of requisite service conditions.
- Brigadier: On selection basis subject to fulfillment of requisite service conditions.
